Our varied ‘Sri Lanka and Maldives’ trip is the ideal break; it couples history and culture with relaxation and indulgence to ensure you get both an experience and a rest. In Sri Lanka the journey takes in some of Sri Lanka’s great ancient cities, many of which are so rare and spectacular that they’ve been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The trip includes a few days in Kandy, Sri Lanka’s famous hillside city and the home of the Buddha’s tooth. It traces alongside tea plantations by train and even includes a stay in a colonial bungalow. From Sri Lanka it’s just a short hop over to The Maldives, where pristine private islands are ringed with shimmering white sand. There’s little to do here other than dive, snorkel, dine and relax.
